At Home Care.

A cheat sheet on taking the best possible care of your extensions at home.

Brushing

  • Brush hair thoroughly multiple times a day. With your free hand, hold the top of your rows to eliminate unnecessary tension and pulling while you brush.

  • It is VERY important to brush your wefts to prevent matting. Especially during cooler months when you are wearing high neck clothing; coats, sweaters, scarfs, etc.

  • Brush before you get into the shower to help with tangling. Brush your hair in the shower as well while you have conditioner in.

Washing

  • You can use a claw clip in your hair to separate your rows to wash each row at a time. Using two fingers like a peace sign to scrub the top and bottom of the wefts.

  • You do not need to vigorously shampoo the ENDS of your hair, focus on the scalp and around the wefts.

  • You do not need to condition the top of your hair, focus on the mid lengths to ends.

  • Use sulfate and paraben-free salon grade shampoos and conditioners, ALWAYS! I have all the products you will need for you at the salon.

  • The use of leave-in conditioners, heat protectants, and a conditioning mask once a week is highly recommended to protect your extensions.

Styling

  • Towel dry before blow drying to soak up excess water.

  • Use a wet brush starting from ends working your way up.

  • Use blow dryer on a medium heat setting.

  • Do NOT flip head over while blow drying. You don’t want to roughen up the hair shaft. Blow dry your hair while its down and make sure you get the top of your rows completely dry.

  • Use a thermal spray before using heat on your hair, and use an oil on the lengths of your hair to ensure the longevity of your extensions.

Sleeping

  • Brush hair and put in two loose braids before going to bed.

  • NEVER go to bed with wet hair.

  • Using a silk pillow case, or satin scrunchies will help.

Extra Tips!

  • When wearing hair in a high ponytail slightly pull the front corners of your rows to avoid any tension in those spots.

  • Before swimming, get hair wet in clean water and apply a conditioner or a leave-in on the lengths of your hair and put in a top knot or braid. Try to avoid completely submerging hair in water. You risk discoloring your wefts or drying them out.

  • After extra curricular activities such as working out, swimming, ect. make sure you dry the wefts immediately after.

  • When using sunscreen make sure it does NOT include the ingredient "Avobenzone" this will turn your extensions a peach color and is almost impossible to get out.

  • Do not use purple shampoo on extensions. It will turn them purple and dry them out.

  • Do not exceed 340 when using hot tools.
